Question: How do i prevent roaches from traveling to new home?
(Posted by: Jeanne on 2010-02-08 08:37:23)
I am looking at moving soon and I have small roaches in the house, and large ones in the garage where I have several boxes stored for the last year. Does anyone know how I can prevent them from traveling with me or taking over at the new place? |

I had this problem once. I picked out the stuff I absolutely needed (clothes and toiletries), made sure that stuff was roach free, then I closed up the house and bombed it. After I thought that the bombs had done their job, I moved everything remaining in the house into my storage locker. I then continued to bomb the locker for a month, one bomb a day. Heck, I was getting to the point where I was just chucking them in underneath the cracked garage style door like live hand grenades and quickly shutting it. They must have thought I was crazy, but nobody complained and all the roaches died. I then moved all my stuff into my new house. Who dat say I got dem roaches? Nobody, dat who. |

Buy some pressurized insect "bombs " (sold at hardware and big box stores), sometimes called "foggers. " Open all cabinets and drawers in each room and place the bomb in the center on the floor. In the garage, open all boxes, etc., and set the bomb on the floor. One by one, open the bombs and VACATE THE HOME. THE FOG IS LETHAL AND CAN KILL YOU. Observe the waiting time on the can and wait. When the suggested time is up, generally hours, reenter and quickly open all exterior doors and windows, then vacate again until the fog is eliminated. Sweep up all the dead roaches. Do not take the cardboard boxes to your new location because they may contain roach eggs. |

The only true way is going to be go through the boxes and inspect everything to be sure there are no roaches in your stuff and perhaps even treating these items after you inspect them to be sure there are no eggs in them. |

Pack your things with diatomaceous earth or boric acid, then wash them well when you get to where you're going to live. Good luck! |
