Question: A home we are looking into doesn't have any sort of a sewer hook-up apparently?
(Posted by: Katherine on 2010-02-07 16:09:33)
We are looking into a home and its on a privatde drive and small piece of private land that is shared with one other person. As soon as he saw us outside, he came rushing out telling us, "no no, dont buy this house, it has no sewer hook- up. you will hate it. " Now, me and boyfriend believe he just wants this private land all to himself because we cant imagine a house being built without a sewage license. So really, the question is how much a septic tank, and/ or sewage hook- up installation would cost in missouri. |

The cheapest option is to put in a sewer line. This usually runs a couple of grand to do if there is no real problem plus you will have to pay a fee to the municipality to tap into the sewer line. A septic tank and leach field will run in the $8 to $12 thousand range and you will have to get the tank pumped out about every 2 years. |

Have a home inspector take a final look (you should anyways) - but if the house has flushing toilets that work (you can test that yourself), and laundry hook-up, it probably has sewer hook-up or septic tank. |

NYS with the new regulations about 10k The house cannot be sold unless it already has a septic system. Talk to the realtor but bigger problem is the pain in the @ss next door, do you really want him for a neighbor? |

It depends on where in missouri you are. Look here for your septic questions...extension.missouri.edu/ publications/ DisplayPub.aspx?P= EQ401 Then you'll have to locate an installer. If you're close to a town it's best to go with city sewer if it's available. |

You are probably right about the neighbor. Where has the waste been going all these years ?. Maybe it's been going into his pockets. There may not be a cleanout [ there should be ] but I'm sure there is a septic system or sewer system of some kind. Are you sure you want to live next to an idiot ?. Don't pay any attention to him. |
